He’s on death row and all she can do is wait.
She can’t understand how her son ended up here, charged with sedition, acts of terrorism. How could it come to this? This one-woman play follows the twists and turns, influences and events that have led up to this.
This new devised solo performance piece, written by Eames Barry, combines drama, music and movement in a powerful examination of what it is to be mother to a son on death row. It begins just as the son is condemned, the traumatised mother wondering if she could have changed things, stopped the inevitable chain of events, or indeed if she herself were partly to blame. Is it nurture or nature that leads a man to be condemned to death, or is there something deeper within him that even she can’t see?
The piece is performed by Morag Parker, a Music Theatre graduate, theatre practitioner and dance teacher. Morag is also the Artistic Director of The Underground Theatre, Plymouth who are co-producing this performance in conjunction with Morag’s own In The Wings Theatre Company, the resident company at The Underground Theatre. Previous productions by In The Wings include both resident and touring musicals as well as solo pieces, but this is the first time Morag has performed at Plymouth Fringe.
